Are the prices finally calming down? For once, it looks like the supermarkets decided to take a breather—and so did our wallets (well, sort of).
🧍♀️Let’s break it down like only we can:
🔹 Pick n Pay is holding steady at R688.89. No changes, no drama—just quietly keeping things consistent.
🔹 Checkers also didn’t blink. Same price, same position, same middle-of-the-pack energy.
🔹 Woolworths? Still living in its own luxury bubble. Same trolley price as last week and still the most expensive option on the board. Darling, we get it—you’re classy, but could you at least try to compete?
🔥 But here’s where things get spicy…
Spar dropped R138 off their total!
Yes, you read that right. A full R138 cheaper than last week’s total, thanks to some serious specials on toilet rolls and flour (baking and wiping—life’s two essentials, sorted). But hold up—the catch? These prices are only valid until 8 June, so if you’re planning to stock up, move faster than a pensioner chasing a Black Friday tin of Ricoffy.
Despite this welcome dip, Spar still lands in second place overall. Still, it’s nice to see someone shaking things up a little!
💬 Final Thoughts:
Stability is great… unless you’re trying to save. While three of our four supermarkets stayed as predictable as a 90s soapie plotline, Spar came in like the plot twist we didn’t know we needed.

All items can only be purchased online or via the supermarkets’ apps using their respective rewards cards. Where applicable, we’ve factored in multi-buy offers (e.g., two-for-one deals) to determine the final cost. If an own-brand option was available, we opted for that. Prices were checked using an address in Cape Town, and any potential rewards points earned have not been included in the total.
